ABBY PECORA
Abby Pecora is an accomplished dancer and long time member of IMD. Abby began dancing at the age of 6 at In Motion, training in jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary, lyrical, acro, and hip hop. Abby graduated as an IMD dancer in 2022, where she continued her dance journey as a competitive choreographer and teacher.
Abby is now working towards a Bachelor of Science with a major in Health Sciences and Kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University. She has continued dancing competitively on the Laurier Competitive Dance Team and is now starting the position of assistant captain for the team starting in September.
Abby has won various choreography awards both with In Motion and Laurier Competitive Dance at several competitions over the last few years. Other accomplishments of hers have included many Highest Scoring Solo Awards, Highest Scoring Ballet, Lyrical, and Acro/Open Routines, Top 5 in the Young Creators Choreography Competition in 2021, 1st Place Dance Off Soloist 2022, along with various special awards and scholarships. She was also recently recognized as a bright, young artist by Linda Garneau at BeU University Varsity Dance Challenge. Abby has completed several Ceccetti and RAD ballet exams with distinction under the training of Caralee Buchwald and Nadiene Gibney. Abby also had the honour of representing Canada in the 2019 Dance World Cup in Braga, Portugal where she had brought home a silver medal.
Abby has worked with many award winning choreographers such as Brodie Masse, Eryn Waltman, Linda Garneau, Stephanie Rutherford, Josh Assor, Blake McGrath, Jade Whitney, Caroline Torti, and Julia Cratchley.
Abby loves dancing, choreographing and sharing her passion with her students. She looks forward to continuing to grow her artistry through teaching and training dancers as well as helping these young dancers become artists. She is looking forward to another year of dance as a part of the IMD team!
