kenzie Buchwald, Acro teacher
Mackenzie began dancing when she was 2 years old. She is now a Senior dancer at In Motion School of the Performing Arts. She continues to train and compete in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, acro, contemporary, lyrical and hip hop. Her ballet training includes both Cecchetti and Royal Academy of Dance syllabi. Most recently she received Distinction on her Intermediate RAD exam.
She has been a teaching assistant at In Motion for the past 5 years and she has assisted at the studios summer dance camps. She has been a Junior Staff member at In Motion over the past 2 years, working with students to help them prepare for competition. Mackenzie enjoys working with dancers of all ages.
Mackenzie has attended many dance competitions across Ontario and has been awarded with various special awards, overall awards and scholarships. Recent awards include first overall Intermediate soloist and second overall duet 2019 (Breakthru Dance Challenge), first overall Teen duet 2019 (Terpsichore), second overall top soloist and third overall top duet 2019 (Bedazzled), first place overall soloist 2018 (Bedazzled), first place overall Intermediate acro duet 2018 (Bedazzled), first place overall Intermediate duet 2018 (The View),Ballet powerhouse award 2017(Fever).
She has supplemented her training by attending the Northern Movement Acro Convention over the past 5 years. In the summer of 2019 she was chosen as the winner of the Cambridge Convention and was awarded A list acrobat. In the summer of 2020 she was chosen to be a demonstrator at the Cambridge Convention.
She has worked with choreographers including Blake McGrath, Erin Waltman, Brodie Masse, Josh Assor,Stephanie Rutherford and Linda Garneau.
Mackenzie loves to dance and is looking forward to sharing her passion with other students.
